During the week the OMX Helsinki 25 (OMXH25) index has increased by 2.58 % from 2826.09 to 2899.11. The number of stocks which have gained in value over the week is 90. The number of stocks which faced a decrease in value over the week is 53. The overall turnover throughout the week is 1 476 115 744 EUR. Comparing to the previous stock exchange week the overall turnover has increased by 63.5%. Two major week winners are Soprano and Puuharyhma. Two week losers are Efore and Pohjois-Karjalan Kirjapaiano.
The shares of TietoEnator (TIEIV), one of the largest IT services provider in Europe, have increased by 6.74% and reached 21.26 Euro per share at the end of the week. These shares had one of the biggest demand in the Helsinki Stock Market this week – total volume was 2.218 million shares traded. The increase can be explained by the fact that the divestment of TietoEnator's holding in Personec Group to Nordic Capital Fund V was completed. This will enable the company to focus resources and make further internationalization investments within chosen industry areas and global solutions.
KCI Konecranes (KCI1V) is a world-leading provider of lifting solutions and maintenance services. During the week 366 000 shares were traded, and they have increased by 7.17% to 21.26 Euro per share. This is because 296200 new Konecranes shares have been subscribed with stock option rights under KCI Konecranes' stock option plans. The number of shares will increase to 60 077 720 shares. Also, 50,000 shares in the Company will be sold to the Managing Director in December 2006 to motivate him to contribute to the long-term success of the Company and increase shareholder value for all shareholders of the Company.
Fortum (FUM1V), a producer of electricity, heat and steam, has experienced a slight decrease of 2.99% in its shares, with 6,418 million units traded in total. The market price has dropped to 22.05 Euro per share. It happened because the Board of Directors of Fortum Corporation decided to cancel the total of 1,660,000 Fortum shares in possession of the company, without decreasing the share capital. After the cancellation, the total number of Fortum Corporation's shares is 887,393,646.
M-Real (MRLBV) is one of the leading producers of paper and paperboard in Europe. During the week the shares of this company decreased by 2.87% to 4.50 Euro per share. More than 3,151 million shares were traded. The decrease can be explained by two reasons. Firstly, M-real Corporation’s has decided to reorganise the management team, which will take up their responsibilities from 1 January 2007. The aim is to continue downsizing the head office top management positions following decisions already made. Also, the company is planning to close a mill in Sittingbourne. The mill will cease production by 31 January, 2007.
