During the week the OMX Helsinki 25 (OMXH25) index has increased by 2.24 % from 2882.39 to 2947.01. The number of stocks which have gained in value over the week is 88. The number of stocks which faced a decrease in value over the week is 50. The overall turnover throughout the week is 1 613 876 861. Comparing to the previous stock exchange week the overall turnover has increased by 34.1 %. Two major week winners are Cargotec and Satama Interactive. Two week losers are Biohit B and Sponda.

M-real Corporation (MRLBV) is one of the leading producers of paper and paperboard in Europe. Its share prices increased by +5.16% this week and reached a value of 5.12 EUR per share. This can be explained by the new restructuring program, which was announced in 18 January 2007. Two machines in Germany will cease production by 31 January 2007.

Finnair Oyj (FIA1S), a company providing airline services, has experienced a share price increase of +5.00%. Thus, the share prices increased to 14.18 EUR per share. This can be explained by the use of new technology for the Finnair Airbus aircraft. The seating capacity will increase by 5%, there will be savings in fuel consumption, and the amount of emissions will decrease by 10%.

The shares of TietoEnator (TIEIV), one of the largest IT services providers in Europe, have decreased by 12.69% and reached 20.81 EUR per share at the end of the week. These shares had one of the biggest demands in the Helsinki Stock Market this week – total volume was 4.902 million shares traded. The decrease can be explained by the fact that on Thursday morning the firm announced that the profitability in 2006 was lower than expected. This is due to higher costs and higher proportion of low-margin revenue, like subcontracting. As soon as TietoEnator made this announcement, the shares decreased from 23.57 EUR per share to 20.99 EUR per share.

PKC Group Oyj (PKC1V) a significant manufacturer of wiring harnesses and cabling which in Europe, North America, Mexico and Brazil, had a decrease of 9% in a value of their shares during the week. The price of their share at the moment is 11.03 EUR. This decrease is due to several reasons. First, increase in price of copper, which is a raw material for wires and cables produced by PKC Group. Second reason is downward trend in selling prices, as well as the high costs for transferring production from Canada to Mexico. PKC Group had also a lot of expenses when starting two new factories in Pskov and Suzhou.
