Lithuanian Stock Market Overview 27/11/2006 – 01/12/2006
This week companies in Vilnius Stock market have shown positive results since 28 rises and only 12 falls occurred. As a result, Vilnius OMX index rose by 2,50%, from 447.06 to 458.25. This week’s overall turnover totaled 11,375,694.60 EUR which is 1,133,154.02 EUR more than previous week. The amount of deals increased by 12.83% and was 4,969, so we could say that Vilnius Stock market was exceptionally active this week. Dvarčionių Keramika (DKR1L) was one of the leaders in I-List according to the increase in stock value which was 11.83%.The fastest rising stock value in I-List was Kauno Energija (KNR1L) which, despite relatively small turnover and number of deals, rose by 15.00%. The most successful stock in Baltic Main List was Ūkio Bankas (UKB1L) which not only increased in value by 13.08% but also had the biggest turnover in the whole Lithuanian market - 2,543,045.98 EUR. Snoras (SRS1L) had an increase in stock value of 13.57% and the turnover equal to 1,434,773.85 EUR; and has very great future perspectives.
Dvarčionių Keramika (DKR1L), which used to be one of the most passive stocks in Lithuanian market this week surprised everybody by increase in value of 11.83% from 1.13 EUR to 1.26 EUR. Number of deals was still relatively small – 79; and turnover was equal to 67,304.55 EUR. On 30th of December the company was awarded by Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists for the achievements in improving the operating efficiency in 2006. Due to public appreciation and increasing sales of production within and outside the country, one could expect that at least in few weeks time this stock value should increase even more.
Ūkio Bankas (UKB1L) continues having the biggest turnover in Lithuanian Stock market, this week equal to 2,543,045.98 EUR what is 752,745.20 EUR bigger than the last week. Moreover, its stock value rose by 13.08%, from 0.94 EUR to 1.05 EUR. Number of deals was the biggest in the market – 989, and stock value changed on daily basis, so it seems that investors are not only highly interested but also see great future perspectives of this company and of its shares. On the other hand, it would be hard to expect that this stock value will increase so intensively in the near future.
Other Lithuanian bank Snoras (SRS1L), also shows great results what is noticed by investors, so the stock value increased by 13.57%, from 15.93 EUR to 18.09 EUR. Number of deals was 737, while turnover reached 1,434,773.85 EUR what was 24.05% of the overall turnover of Lithuanian Stock market I-List this week. International financial publication “The Banker” ranked Snoras as the best bank in Lithuania 2006. This piece of news; suspended new shares’ emission; and upcoming company’s board meeting gave lots of hopes for investors that the stock value will increase in the future and noticeably raised the demand for it. On the other hand, decisions based on hope and public opinion not always are true therefore one should not be very surprised if in the near future value of this stock would start decreasing.
