Russian Stock Market Overview (RTS) 11/12/2006 – 15/12/2006
During the following week the Russian stock exchange index RTSI went up only by 0.08% from 1838.61 to 1840.13. Such a small increase in the index could be explained by decrease in the price of shares of such big companies like ОАО Татнефть им.В.Д.Шашина, ао (TATN) and ОАО Амурэнерго, ао (AMEN) that have quite big influence on the RTSI index. The overall turnover in the market for this week was 257 654 109 € at 1 415 deals.
Despite the big decrease in prices of big organizations the company Rostelekom (RTKM) faced the highest increase in shares price this week (+7.3%) from 4.91 € to 5.26 € per share at a number of 607 465 shares sold. According to the newspaper “Ведомости” this increase could be explained by the low liquidity of the shares: only one small deal was necessary for the quotations to go up. Such increase for Ростелеком is unusual.
As we already mentioned ОАО Татнефть им.В.Д.Шашина, ао (TATN) suffered a decrease (-1.9%) from 3.61 € to 3.56 € per share. The turnover for this company was 352 648 € at the number of 9 deals this week.
ОАО Амурэнерго, ао (AMEN) shares decreased by 2.2%. The price per share is 0.33€. The decreased could be explained by the overall decrease in prices of shares of energetic companies. It is worth to mention that the energetic sector suffered a loss in prices 2.87% this week.
The prediction can be made that the oil companies, especially ЮКОС (YUKO) and Сургутнефтегаз (SNGS) will rise in its prices while the energetic companies will still become cheaper. As well, the metallurgic companies have quite bit growth potential.
