Russian Stock Market Overview (RTS) 12/02/2007 – 16/02/2007
During the week RTS index was constantly rising slowly, reaching the value of 1897.07 at the end of the period, which is just 1% more than at the beginning of the period. 1 118 deals were made during the week with total capitalization of 171 147 566.4 €. In general, the week was positive for most companies as share prices of 34 companies went up, and only of 9 down, staying the same for 7. The leader of the period is ОАО Автоваз, ао (AVAZ) with increase of 12.84% and “the most unlucky” company is ОАО Вимм-Билль-Данн, ао (WBDF) with a fall of 5.13%.
On 15th February long-term emission of additional ОАО Мосэнерго, ао (MSNG) shares was initiated. It is planned to add 11.5 mlrd equities at the market, which is 40.7% of company’s total assets. This additional emission is going to be done in favour of ОАО Газпром, ао (GAZP) at the price of 0.154 €. As the result the company will get control over ОАО Мосэнерго, having more than 52% of its shares. This deal will definitely have an impact on ОАО Газпром market positions, getting additional interest from investors and driving prices for its shares even higher.
ОАО Сибирьтелеком, ао (ENCO) has sold 99% of its shares in ЗАО «СТЕК Джи Эс Эм» to its daughter company ЗАО «Енисейтелеком». This is a step in reorganization of daughter businesses of ОАО Сибирьтелеком, which is planning to start unifying its marketing and tariff politics. These changes could lead to higher financial performance of the company.
ОАО Полюс Золото, ао (PLZL) has announced the results of last year. The company has reported that during 2006 they have increased gold production by 17%. Earnings due to this fact have increased by more than 56%. Board of directors of the company suggest to observe these results as a proof of a good development strategy, that will give ground for even better performance this year.
During this week oil-prices were affected by the prediction of a significant temperature rise in USA during next week. As current forecasts say, the temperature will rise till average numbers and will continue increase. In addition, oil reserves in USA were reported less than were predicted in ahead. These two obstacles can affect oil-companies during the next week.
